The Big Blue Beginnig

THE BIG BLUE BEGINNING

In this blogpost, I would want to tell you about a company that I consider to be a nice place to work. When I started to look for companies, I tried to find places that did not prioritize long term experience. Being a new person in the Interactive media Industry without a vast portfolio drives my pursuit for these kinds of companies. My research led me to the discovery of IBM Canada company. The job description title: “Entry level Visual/UX Designer-Internship” caught my attention.

IBM is a solid International company that provides a wide spectrum of hardware, software and service offering. It also encompasses research and notable developments in new technologies and constant innovations. One of its locations is here in Canada, specifically in Markham; that makes it relatively near and easy to access. The location in Markham has really nice and wide-open modern spaces.

Being part of the team in IBM also would be a great opportunity to work with people as KarelVredenburg, who is the head of IBM Design Canada. Vredenburg has a long and successful career, he has been passionate about technology and design to the point where he transformed his company mentorship into a podcast called “Lifehabits mentoring”. Definitely someone to learn from.

One thing that I like about this company is that it has high standards of corporate responsibility. The company tries to generate better returns for society and itself. The latest campaign that the company released is called Sustainable Development Goals, which aspires to expand educational opportunities for people around the world.

Another reason that motivated my interest in this company was that Full-time students have the opportunity to be part of one of the programs at IBM, which is a 16-internship month program work term. The given opportunity to participate in a wide and diverse range of projects is really valuable, because it leads you to learn and contribute as well. It seems like it is a good place to build your career.

Another good aspect is that IBM maintains a high standard on diversity and inclusion; sense of belonging is its premise as well as having diverse teams and fostering higher performance. This aspect definitely should be something to consider because it makes you feel welcome.

Additionally, IBM has a good healthcare package and benefits as well as a good salary range. On the other hand, it gives employees opportunities to travel and get education. Despite the fact that it’s an 8 to 4 job, it also offers flexible working hours. If someone with a similar experience that I have is looking for a place to work, IBM definitely can be that place where you can start to build your career, increase knowledge and get lots of experience.

I hope this information can contribute to your career journey too. See you in the next post!.
